In April 1720, the town of Newport in County Mayo was founded by the leasing of land from Thomas Meddlicott to Captain John Pratt.
A condition of the lease was that he would build twenty houses on what is now Meddlicott Street.
In 2022, Newport will celebrate its tri-centenary with an exciting programme of events to commemorate this special anniversary ...
